Chapter 2 The hostels problem now is the one of the common problems to all university in the world. The female students face multiple problems and ranging from accommodation to cultural adjustment. [Islamabad, 2008] The other problems that student will deal with is the sexual harassment problems. Sexual harassment is the problems that occurs student on-student and there are 62% and of female college students report was having been sexually harassed college or university. It also state that 54% of male college students admit to sexually harassing someone in college which they is admitting to harassing someone often or occasionally. [American Association of University Women, 2006] The effect from the hostel problem will lead to decreasing of student performance in study. The performance of the victims will decrease because the victim must be focusing more how to deal with the harassment and the surrounding. It will affect their education performance and will feel depressed. [American Association of University Women, 2008] On the other hand, some of the female student even obliged to give up their studies because lack of hostel accommodation and safety. In Punjab, women have an insignificant share of the services in the country. [Bashir, 2009] There are a lot of ways to overcome the problems, one of the way to overcome the problem is to reported the situation or condition to the person who in charge or friends. That report must be including date, time, place, you’re feeling about the situation and that you the behavior must be stop immediately. About 32% female students have been sexually harassed reported feeling afraid or scared. [Warren, 2009] Besides that, the university should designed regulation specific just for hostels because most of the hostels run independently and government has had a few powers to intervene. That’s because now currently no regulations designed specifically for the hostels. [Press Release: New Zealand government, 2005]
